Maxwel Cornet signs for Burnley

Unique are delighted to announce that Maxwel Cornet has completed his transfer from Lyon to Burnley.

After making his first appearance for Lyon in the 2014/15 season, Cornet made a total of 252 appearances for the French giants, scoring 51 times. He memorably scored in Lyon’s 3-1 win over Manchester City in the quarter-final of the 2019/20 Champions League, as Lyon progressed to the semi-final stage.

Cornet is also an established member of the Ivory Coast national team, having represented his country on 21 occasions, scoring four goals.

The 24-year-old wide player now signs a five-year contract with Premier League side Burnley ahead of Tuesday’s transfer deadline.

Burnley manager Sean Dyche said: “We look forward to him coming into the building and getting used to what we do and hopefully affecting what we do.

“We want him to come and enjoy his football with us and hopefully push us as well.

“We want him to settle in and get used to the area and get used to life on and off the pitch and we’ll see what he can bring to us.”

Everybody at Unique wishes Maxwel the best of luck for the season ahead.
