Tyrick Mitchell gets England call

Tyrick Mitchell has earned his first call-up to the England senior squad.

Despite not being named in the initial 25-man squad for March’s camp, Tyrick has now been called in to replace fellow Unique client Reece James.

England will face Switzerland and Ivory Coast at Wembley Stadium later this month and Gareth Southgate will now run the rule over the 22-year-old full-back after what has been an impressive 2021/22 campaign so far.

“Tyrick, we’ve been really impressed with, he was very close [to an initial call-up],” Southgate said last week. “I think he’s been very good with his defending, he gets out quickly to people and in the biggest games against top opponents he’s coped really well.”

Tyrick has clocked up 33 appearances for the Eagles this season and leads the Premier League in successful pressures, defensive-third tackles and blocked passes.

He will be joined by Sam Johnstone, who has also been drafted in following an injury to Aaron Ramsdale.

Everybody at Unique congratulates Tyrick on his call-up.
